I tested the updated version of the big butt pants recently, and, while it’s a great basic, quick sew, comfy wear for your littles, the best part about this particular test was my three year old’s photos. He is always asking me to take pictures of him, and so when I do sew for him, he is eager, and willing to take pictures!
He needed no direction, and just was a silly little guy for a few minutes!
These are a great pattern for your knit stash. They have a wide gusset that makes them so comfy to wear. Lots of room for movement. The legs are slim enough to counter the baggier crotch, but not tight or restrictive at all. The tall cuffs give a great option for growing room. You could fold them up halfway, and as they grow fold them down. Mine are just scrunched slightly here.
Brindille and Twig makes some great patterns for comfy kids wear. I have made so many of every pattern I own from them! The big butt pants come in sizes preemie-6T.
