Hi! I’m Liesel. Christian, creative, independent, fashion-lover, wife, mom, home school teacher, musician, Wichita State Shocker, cold coffee drinker. These are in no specific order, and might not even be the biggest things that define me, but they share a small picture 🙂
I love sewing, and have blogged personally for many years, but I wanted a space to share my sewing endeavors. I love sewing, and the outlet for creativity it affords. I learned to sew when I was a girl, my parents taught me. My dad especially loved to sew, and still does, I enjoy being able to talk all things sewing with him whenever we’re together. But I did not love it when I first learned. I broke out the sewing machine again when I became a stay at home mom, when my second daughter was a baby, after working full time for many years. I had an old hand-me-down machine. The belt was dry, and did not connect, and so I had to sew by cranking the hand wheel 🙂 I picked up fabrics and flat sheets at garage sales, and used those in my first creations. I also was not really aware of pdf patterns. I am a die-hard DIYer and so I followed any tutorial or free pattern on the internet to sew anything I could find that interested me. I made dresses, curtains, baby leggings, etc… and I began to draft my own things that I wanted to make that I couldn’t find a tutorial for. I had no clue what I was doing. I had never seen a sleeve pattern piece, and so it looked nothing like it should have. But I think it was a great place for me to start, to learn the ins and outs of how things are put together, and to realize that you can create anything you can dream up.
And then I read a post on one of the blogs I followed, she was holding a giveaway for the new Girl Charlee knit fix (no longer available), so I entered the giveaway, and joined the knitfix Facebook group. I won a free knit fix through a giveaway in the group, and got sucked into the knit fabric world, and have not looked back! In that group the pdf pattern group on Facebook was recommended to me, and $$$$$$$$$$ later, here I am now. Haha! Most of the things I sew and share on here are for patterns I have tested. This has been a fun way for me to grow my skills, I am thankful for several designers who have pushed me and taught me so many new things. Pattern testing gives me deadlines, so I actually get things made. It has introduced me to sewing friends all over the world, and has given me a huge outlet for my love of clothes, and love of photography.
I am not an expert in any area, I just sew and share what I love. I am grateful to you for stopping by, and I hope you will be inspired to create something new. Please contact me if you have any questions, or to collaborate. Liesel.firstname.lastname@example.org
