I’ve shared a Bella Sunshine Designs Clementine dress recently, but I’m back with another one, because it’s just what I needed for my oldest! I’m sharing a couple of patterns I made for the Back to School blog tour, with BSD. I love that I can sew for my girls, to fit their styles and sizes, and I’m so excited to keep it up as they grow. I hope having well fitting designs that are flattering will help them navigate their childhood with one less thing to worry about. My girls are 8 and 10, and going into the 3rd and 5th grades this fall. WHAT?!? Every year, I tell myself I don’t feel old enough to have kids this old. But I know I look it, even if I don’t feel it. Ha!

The patterns I used are the Maggie pattern, which includes top, tunic, and dress length, two necklines, and three sleeve lengths. Sometimes I feel like I don’t need another “basic” pattern, but I love that I can trust the measurements from Bella Sunshine Designs, and I know it will fit exactly as it says it will. This especially starts to matter when you’re making dress length, and don’t want the hips to end up too tight! This is the dress length, with the higher neckline option. I love a good basic t-shirt dress, and stripes make it so classic!

For my older daughter, I sewed a Clementine top. This one is slightly modified. The pattern is designed with a fully lined bodice, but I decided to skip the lining and add a neckband. I did not make any alterations to the neckline, since I knew it had a decent scoop. I just calculated the neckband by feel.

Both fabrics are double brushed poly from Sly Fox Fabrics. This is not a sponsored post, but I won their weekly giveaway a few weeks ago, and received several 1 yard cuts from their new releases. I made both of these from some of the fabrics that I won in that giveaway!

Bella Sunshine Designs always makes me happy with their deep hems, and carefully thought out tutorials. You won’t go wrong with anything you make from them!

  1. […] Oh my goodness- I made it! Made it through the end of the summer. Well not really, our schools don’t start for another 3 weeks but boy has this been the longest summer by far! Here we are winding down from all the camps and most people are looking at supply lists. I always loved back to school when I was a child because it meant that I got new pencils and folders and I just love new supplies. For us in Vermont, our school system pays for everything, even down to providing breakfast, lunch and a snack for our children- so my only joy for back to school is creating something fairly epic for my kids to wear. This year in honor of the Back to School Blog tour being hosted by Bella Sunshine Designs Monday: Sew Cucio – Inspinration – It’s Liesel […]
