I got to join my first blog tour for Monaluna fabrics, and I am HOOKED. This is the Journey collection, and I took days to decide which print to use. There are prints available in poplin and lawn. I chose poplin for this dress. This cactus had the right amount of whimsy. Then I took days to decide what pattern to sew. Lol!

This is the Chloe dress from Honeydew Kisses¬†(affiliate links). I didn’t quite do it justice, though. Her design includes gorgeous princess seams, and lots of sleeve options, including an off the shoulder ruffle that I was planning on making, but the solid coordinates I wanted for the extra details were not in in time. I am still smitten with this dress. The fabric sings, and my daughter loves it too.

The fabric was gorgeous to work with. It is 100% organic cotton. I know this dress will wear well. The quality is amazing.

These photos were fun to take. I’m thankful we’re having a bit of milder weather so I don’t have to get creative with bribes for my kids, or take indoor photos. ūüôā But it was super windy! I think that can be half annoying, and half fun, for more interest in the pictures!

I only had a scrap left after cutting out this dress, but I wanted to make something else, so I sewed these quick diaper covers from the free Made pattern, and made a little outfit to go with it for a baby shower I’m attending this weekend! So adorable!

The lap tee is the free pattern¬†(affiliate link) from Patterns for Pirates. I modified to bottom, simply. This is the 0-3 month size. I folded up the bottom 5″ and then measured the width of the bottom edge of the pattern, and cut a ruffle that was 5″ long by twice the width of the tee. I didn’t worry about adding length for seam allowance, since it’s flowy. And I did attach the skirt with a 1/4″ seam allowance. The headband is a free pattern from Coral&co.

Thank you to Phat Quarters for hosting, and Monaluna for supplying this fabric for the tour! I am so excited about reading all the other posts this week. I hope you will check them out too. And don’t miss the giveaway at the bottom of this post!

  1. Love how simply beautiful this dress is! It really does allow the fabric to shine. Oh, my goodness that shirt and diaper cover are so stinking cute! Almost makes me want a new baby…almost! LOL!
