SLPCo for the Holidays

I get to be a part of this fun blog tour with Simple Life Pattern Company, and Harts Fabric! We’re showcasing Simple Life Patterns styled for special occasions, and Harts Fabric generously sponsored fabric for the tour!

First, they prefer comfort! I knew they wouldn’t wear it again if it wasn’t easy to put on, and comfortable to wear. Knit usually wins for this. There are some woven garments that are comfortable, but generally, knit is an easier choice. After that, I chose what I knew they would love.

I made Tilly’s circle skirt for my older daughter, and modified Adelyn’s scoop back dress to be the top for this outfit. I simply extended the main fabric a few inches, and hemmed it. It works great tucked in to a high-waisted skirt like this. I will probably attach a simple skirt to it later to make it a peplum top, so she can wear it on it’s own, or tucked in. I used this gorgeous Nicole Miller scuba fabric from Harts for the top layer, and added 2 layers of tulle, plus one layer of black ponte underneath for the other layers. Tilly’s can be made in knit or woven, so it’s a versatile circle skirt pattern! The Adelyn top is made from double brushed poly, with black crepe satin for the bow. I used the modest scoop option for this, since we’re heading into colder weather, but the lower scoop adds so much drama, and I love it just as much!

My younger daughter gets the fun Harmony’s high-low dress! This pattern is actually designed for woven, and they suggest sizing down if you want to make it in knit. I did not size down, though I could have, but it’s fine as is too 🙂 There are a ton of options in this pattern, but I can not resist a good high-low, so that’s the option we went with. I LOVE this metallic knit I got from Harts. It’s the perfect weight, and drape for lots of apparel projects. Not too heavy and stretchy, but not too thin, or translucent either! I loved sewing with it.

I have to mention, that my fabric mail from Harts came incredibly fast, and when I opened it, the packaging made me smile. They wrapped it in a paper pattern, and included matching thread for my fabrics! So good. I will link the specific fabrics I used below, so you can check them out, and see what else they have.
